Sunday Setlists – 16AUG09
This post is part of Fred McKinnon’s #sundaysetlists. Head over there and check it out!
I was asked to lead this sunday’s evening service as our usual worship leader was out dealing with some personal issues. I always jump at the chance to lead so of course I was in.
At the last minute, I was asked to lead the morning service as well and, oh yeah, we don’t really have one full band from either service so we’re going to combine the two bands (kindof) so we have all the parts covered. No problem, bring it on!
Our evening service is more rock where our morning service is a little more contemporary. We had two members of the morning band (piano and bass) and three members of the evening band (acoustic/vocal, electric and drums). After a rough and long but positive practice earlier in the week, we were ready for sunday. Our setlist for Sunday morning was:
- Song Of Hope
- Everything Glorious
- Happy Day
- Mighty To Save
- Not To Us
We had some great congregation participation for Everything Glorious and Happy Day. Mighty To Save went ok but had very limited participation since it was the offertory song. Oh well, it was a great service either way. For our evening service we had to cut a song and did a little rearranging. Our setlist:
- Everything Glorious
- Happy Day
- Mighty To Save
- Song Of Hope
We got to church early for a quick run through before the service to iron out any kinks and Sean, our electric guitar player was unfortunately MIA. I got a call from him saying that he had locked his keys inside a house he was housesitting for and the locksmith was 45 minutes away. All of this coming just over an hour before the service! We went into “contingency plan” mode and started working on our songs sans electric. It was pretty rough. Luckily the locksmith was early and Sean got there with just enough time to run through two songs before the service started. The congregation for the evening service was smaller than it had been in the last few weeks, but it was good and everything worked out in the end.
