Jennifer Knapp is a Gold Certified, Grammy and Dove Award winning Christian musician.  In 2001, she announced that she was taking an indefinite break from recording and touring.  Jennifer Knapp was huge in the late 90′s-early 00′s.  She seemed to be at every Christian music festival around.  She was the bee’s knees.

Last August, it was confirmed that she was writing and recording again.  My ears perked up.  Being an audiophile, I’m always on the lookout for some new music and love seeing the progression of an artist’s work through their career.  September; she posted a “welcome back” letter to fans on her website.  In February, she confirmed that her first album since 2001′s The Way I Am would be released in May.

And then she did it…

She came out.

In an interview with Christianity Today, Jennifer Knapp admitted that she was in a same-sex relationship. This has caused debates and controversy all over the place.

I have my own thoughts on this that may or may not surprise some of you.  I’ll post those tomorrow but for now, my question is this.  As Christians, how do we handle this?  Is she still considered a Christian singer?  Is she allowed at the Christian Music Festivals?  If she was leading worship at your church, what would you do? Would you buy her CD?
